Q. HOW MUCH DOES TONY RACKAUCKAS' MISCONDUCT COST YOU?

A. OVER $10 MILLION DOLLARS AND RISING

The taxpayer tab for the illegal use of informants, wrongful convictions by Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas and audits investigating his misconduct is over $10 million dollars and growing.

Look at the case of the worst mass murderer in county history:

The 'cut and dry' trial of Salon Beach mass murderer Scott Dekraai was botched by Rackauckas who was thrown off the case. Dekraai was spared the death penalty because of the misuse of jailhouse informants by Rackauckas who could not be trusted to give the defendant a fair trial.

With six long years of delay to sentence Dekraai his trial is now over twice the average California death penalty cost**.

But there is a more serious price to pay... We are less safe.

Findings from the Dekraai case, including the misuse of informants and prosecutors who purposely withheld evidence from the defense, are now being cited by attorneys attempting to win trials for their clients in prison for murder. Violent predators have had charges dropped, convictions thrown out and are back on our streets because of Rackauckas’ gross incompetence. Ultimately, we are less safe with Rackauckas as District Attorney.
