Tony Rackauckas' Camp Caught Tampering with Evidence Just as They do in the Courtroom

Orange County – April 2 – Tony Rackauckas’ camp was caught red handed tampering with evidence in a failed attempt to contest Todd Spitzer’s ballot statement. The night before the lawsuit was filed, a key witness manipulated the Wikipedia page for Marsy’s Law to remove Spitzer’s credit as a co-author. Spitzer’s name was deleted from the ‘Key Persons for Marsy’s Law’ page after that reference had been there unblemished for the last six years. Tony Rackauckas’ office has repeatedly tampered with evidence to win cases - illegally using informants and withholding evidence from the defense – which has delayed justice for victims and led to numerous high-profile cases being botched.

When presented with the facts in court, Tony Rackauckas’ camp ended up walking away from their false Marsy’s law claim. Despite Rackauckas’ camp falsely challenging Spitzer’s record, they didn’t challenge the statement that crime is up and out-of-control. Tony’s botched cases have weakened public safety and resulted in violent criminals being put back on our street.

Spitzer’s attorney Mark Rosen said, “The lawsuit filed against Todd Spitzer over his candidate statement resulted in a complete vindication of Supervisor Spitzer. Spitzer’s opponents were forced to concede that Spitzer, as an Assemblyman, was a co-author of Marsy’s Law, the statewide initiative that added the Victims’ Bill of Rights to our laws and strengthened the parole hearing system to give victims a say.

How desperate was the opposition? Before filing their lawsuit, they tampered with the longstanding Wikipedia page about Marsy’s Law, in a clumsy attempt to remove Spitzer from the page. They were caught with their hands in the whiteout jar.

Even their attack on Spitzer’s prosecutorial record backfired. Spitzer had listed in his candidate statement 100 significant cases for which he had a 100% record, all completely truthful and accurate. Now Spitzer has expanded his statement to show the full universe of his cases spanning over 28 years that he was able to compile during this case, for which he overall has a 92% conviction rate. That would get him an A+ for prosecutors. Spitzer was an aggressive forceful prosecutor, and he will be an aggressive forceful District Attorney.”

Todd Spitzer stated, “I’m proud of my record as an outstanding prosecutor and I’m running to secure justice for victims and put public safety first.”

He continued, “The sad reality of Rackauckas’ tremendous failures as DA is that the public’s safety continues to suffer. We desperately need change because the people of Orange County deserve to feel safe and be able to depend on their prosecutors to secure justice and keep violent criminals behind bars.”
