Rackauckas Kicked Off Anti-Corruption Task Force Because of his Corruption

Federal Authorities Threatened Rackauckas With ‘Obstruction of Justice’ Violations—FBI And IRS Refuse To Share Information

ORANGE COUNTY – April 23 – In a bombshell delivered by the L.A. Times this weekend, it was revealed that Tony Rackauckas was thrown off Orange County’s Corruption Task Force because of his corruption and untrustworthiness. In 2013, at a time when corruption was rife in Orange County, Rackauckas and federal authorities created the task force to expose corruption in local government. Untrusted by federal authorities and threatened by ‘Obstruction of Justice' violations, Rackauckas was kicked-off the task force four years after its inception shortly after the United States Department of Justice announced that it was launching an investigation into Tony Rackauckas' office for withholding evidence and unlawfully obtaining confessions! During the short lifetime of the anti-corruption task force, the District Attorney's Office has continued to be plagued with scandal surrounding Rackauckas' illegal use of jailhouse informants. Violent predators had charges dropped, convictions thrown out and were let back on our streets because of Rackauckas' ineptness and practice of "lazy law."

This latest bombshell comes as Rackauckas' campaign continues to spiral out-of-control. Just a few weeks ago, Rackauckas was caught on video campaigning at a taxpayer-funded event. He was also video taped blaming the Judge and the Court of Appeal for holding personal grudges against him, allegations the legal community laughed off as ludicrous. His numerous botching of cases have not only released violent criminals back on our streets but have cost taxpayers over $10 million and growing. Various crime victims have now sued Rackauckas in Superior Court, including Bethany Webb, whose sister was murdered and her mother shot (and survived) in the Salon Meritage Massacre, which Rackauckas failed to properly prosecute.

Todd Spitzer said, "If there wasn't already enough scandal to sink Rackauckas' "rudderless" ship, he just gave the community one more reason to be thrown out of office. These new allegations of corruption are the final straw for this DA. He has lost the public's trust, and now he has lost the trust of federal agencies because of his corruption."

“Orange County will be deprived of protecting itself from cheaters because no one trusts Tony. As your next District Attorney, no law enforcement agency will ever question my integrity or independence to investigate politicians. There will be no "pay-back" or quid pro quo in my administration, which is why I am specifically not taking endorsements from elected officials. Everyone knows Tony has never been independent of political influence," said Spitzer.

John Thomas, the chief strategist for the Spitzer campaign, said, "With this latest jaw-dropping admission, it is hard to believe Rackauckas has the audacity to ask voters for four more years."
